Director: Jacque Audiard His 8th movie My 3rd movie watched from the directorAudiard has such a controlled style to his direction and is great at capturing unusual characteristics in familiar characters. The story is interesting enough, but the direction the story goes is what is really interesting and did not expect that ending.Added to Lists: John C Reilly - Top Ten Performances (Honorable Mention) American History Through Movies The Rush of Gold Best Westerns The Desplat Scores Top Ten Films - Jacque Audiard __________ Location: Oregon, USA

Director: Justin Lin

My 4th movie watched from the director
This movie was just so ridiculous and not in as fun of ways as in previous installments. Yes, this is a guilty pleasure, but there are things that can ruin even those, like a Cardi B ” read more

His 10th movie
My 3rd movie watched from the director
A very important subject told in an affective enough way. At times it felt amateurish, but overall it covered the topic and showed the issues in a varied way without feeling too long.” read more
Director: Michael Winterbottom His 10th movie My 8th movie watched from the directorThis movie was told with the perfect editing and visual aesthetic for the subject matter. Coogan is great, and it's filled with many interesting characters, even if we seem to not see them enough. I love the history of it all, through one man's lens.Added to Lists: The History of the Music Industry Told Through Movies Top Ten Performances - Steve Coogan Top Ten Films - Michael Winterbottom __________ Location: Manchester, UK

I grew tired of the X-Men franchise last year and this may be the year I grow tired of the Marvel/Avengers movies. Nothing really impressed me in this bloated action movie that seemed to forget what made the first one successful, very similar to how I view Iron Man 1 and 2.

Director: Bong Joon Ho His 3rd movie My 3rd movie watched from the directorYou can see the mastery at work here, with a small budget. Bong's direction and cleverness shine above the primitive production. There are moments where it almost becomes a silly monster movie, but he reminds us it's more with his metaphors, strong direction, and solid characters and cast.Added to Lists: The Evolution of the Monster Movie __________ Location: Seoul, Korea
Director: Sydney Pollock His 8th movie My 9th movie watched from the directorThe staging and cinematography in this movie was really distracting, making it tough to focus on the story. The premise is interesting enough but I could never really get into it. It wasn't bad but I was expecting a lot more.Added to Lists: Top Ten Films - Sydney Pollock __________ Location: Tokyo, Japan
Director: Danny Boyle His 12th movie My 14th movie watched from the directorIt took me five years to see this movie I was waiting five years before the release, after hearing about its inception. Though not great, I would still say it's worth the wait. Boyle creatively positions its main characters in a position that makes sense twenty years later. There are thankfully plenty of Boyle's creative approaches to the scenes and story, but it lacked the innovation found in the original.Added to Lists: The Longest Release Separations from First Movie to its Sequel Top Ten Films - Danny Boyle (Honorable Mention) __________ Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Director: Deniz Gamze Ergรผven Her 1st movie My 1st movie watched from the directorThis is a beautiful stories about sisters and their bond. Nothing remarkable happens, I say this because I kept on sensing this would happen, but each scene beautiful engages the audience and develops the characters more. Even with the large number of sisters I felt like I understood each one by the end.Added to Lists: Best Unknown Cast Ensembles __________ Location: North Coast Turkey
So many scenes started off interesting and then died. The final few scenes were maybe the only ones. This was a character study movie but I didn't like any of the characters. Otherwise the production quality was strong all around. Cumberbatch acting was the highlight of the movie.

Director: Steven Spielberg His 34th movie My 34th movie watched from the directorThe original is classic with a few dated elements, but otherwise nothing that needed such a replication. I thought Spielberg was going to make this more his own rather than it being so much like the original and botching the most popular song from it (Somewhere). The ending was a little different, too, but also weaker. Now that the negative is out of the way, looking at it purely as a motion picture, it's superbly made - The direction, cinematography, production design, sound design, music, acting, all top-notch... it's just not a movie that needed to be made.Added to Lists: The Best of the Not-Animated-to-Live-Action Musical Remakes Best Dance Scenes of All Time Iconic Dresses of Cinema - Yellow Iconic Dresses of Cinema - White (Non-Wedding Dress) Top 25 Predictions of Future Stars - 2021 - Ariana DeBose Top 25 Predictions of Future Stars - 2021 - David Alvarez __________ Location: Upper West Side of Manhattan NYC, NY, USA
Director: Michael Showalter His 6th movie My 3rd movie watched from the directorIt's a fairly straight-forward biopic from a lesser-known person with the clear highlight being Jessica Chastain's performance. She is a powerhouse in this and continues to cement herself as one of the best actresses in the business. She also has a strong supporting cast. There is a lot of weird stuff in this, that is awkward or makes us uncomfortable, but that's definitely not a bad thing as I think it worked for the subject matter.Added to Lists: Top Ten Performances - Jessica Chasten The Great Big List of American Biopics (In Subject's Chronological Order) __________ Location: International Falls, MN, USA; Charlotte, NC, USA
