Wendy in the Water

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 6 December 2021 11:35 (A review of Wendy)

Director: Benh Zeitlin
His 2nd movie
My 2nd movie watched from the director

Though he sticks with his brand Zeitlin's follow-up to "Beasts of a Southern Wild" isn't as creatively and emotionally successful. It relies so much on the acting of the kids which lends to some awkward moments and, at times, it feels like this is made by and for kids. I love the idea and the effort, the gamble just doesn't pay off.

Young & Beautiful & Worth Watching

Posted : 6 months, 2 weeks ago on 9 July 2021 04:43 (A review of Young & Beautiful)

Marine Vacth is, in fact, young and beautiful. She gives us a lot with minimal dialogue. Sadly the structure of the film is plain and I didn't really get anything new out of it, even if I consider myself entertained in the end.

Lola Versus This Dull Movie

Posted : 6 months, 2 weeks ago on 9 July 2021 03:54 (A review of Lola Versus)

Director: Daryl Wein
His 3rd Movie.
My 1st movie watched from the director.

As likable as Gerwig is she couldn't save this dull movie made by what has to be an amateur director. There is little interest in the writing, too.

First movie of the year I haven't liked.

Found it Didn't Keep Me Fully Attached

Posted : 1 year ago on 7 January 2021 09:42 (A review of Finders Keepers)

A cast of ridiculous characters helps steer this into entertaining territory. It's a story that doesn't need much help in being entertaining. Unfortunately it seems to have been made by people who copied other documentary formulas and didn't seem to have an actual grasp on what this film really needed to succeed.

The Lily James is Perpetually Appealing Society

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 14 March 2020 07:44 (A review of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society)

Lily James continues to impress me and shines with likability. The story itself is fine and the production as a whole is fine enough. The picture's title  ends up being a little more memorable than the movie itself.

Arthur is Still a Rich Alcoholic

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 10 April 2019 02:33 (A review of Arthur)

First, not as good as the original.   Not surprising or expected.  Second, I can't help but enjoy Russel Brand's brand of humor, as I know it's not for everybody. And who doesn't like Helen Mirren? With these in the lead roles it's impossible to have a bad time. However, the editing is atrocious and the structure gives us no surprises.

Still, if you're looking for a fun, light-hearted comedy, you're likely to enjoy this movie.

Den of Alphas

Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 4 March 2019 07:03 (A review of Den of Thieves)

Rated 6.1/10

A heist movie that wanted to be macho and clever but only did it in a mediocre way. The film felt a little dated, but still proved to not be a waste of time.

Too Simple of a Movie

Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 4 March 2019 06:59 (A review of A Simple Favor)

Rated 6.1/10

A pretty fun film with notable performances lead by Blake Lively; but the few twists at the end were lame and made us not really like any of the characters.

Shrek Never After This...

Posted : 2 years, 11 months ago on 1 February 2019 09:28 (A review of Shrek Forever After)

I suppose they proved there was more story to tell, but this is the least compelling entry of the series. The Rumpelstiltskin character is funny, at first, but is quite annoying by the end. Plus, none of the other characters are as funny as they have been in past outings. The series was best with 'Shrek 2' because it was able to tell an adventure story with comedy at the forefront. More importantly, the comedy wasn't lame, for the time.
Let's hope this is where it ends...

The Cutthroat World of 3D Printing

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 11 October 2018 04:06 (A review of Print the Legend (2014))

Ok, not really cutthroat, but the competition is alive! An in-depth look at the 3D printing industry, the people behind the brands and the uncertainty behind the product.  I didn't really care to learn so much about the people. I was more interested in past, present and future of the product. I realize a great documentary often has that person-interest element, but this one didn't need SO much of it.

Thank you for your vote and your comment! About Sinatra's albums, I definitely prefer the Capitol years, for the choice of songs, the way of singing them and the arrangements! Thank you again!
