After an impressive first season I am met with a better second season. It's snappier but knows when to hold on to the important moments. It's funnier and deeper than the first season and it seems like it's done with such ease. Gervais has a gift, that cocky son of a bitch. Director: James Whale His 12th movie My 4th movie watched from the director"Old Man River", the famous song, is so beautifully directed and presented in this movie. It's the best part of the movie, sadly it's in the beginning, so it's all down hill from there. The rest shows a bunch of annoying people who don't know what they want. It's really not a bad movie overall, I just didn't care about the characters... everything else is somewhat impressive for 1936 filmmaking.Added to Lists: Best of the 1930s Musicals Top Ten Performances - Irene Dunne Best Songs Ever Sung in a Movie Ever! This is a delightful creation from Kyle Mooney. His ability to hit just the rights of awkwardness, nostalgia, comedy, and social complexities is kind of brilliant. Too bad it's too niche to ever appeal to a large audience, still I am surprised I don't hear more about it. Main Locations: Fictional

Director: Peter Farrelly His 2nd solo movie My 2nd movie watched from him as a solo directorThis movie really had great potential, but it never hit that high mark. I kept thinking it was going to get really good or there would be a big payoff, but instead it just remained... pretty good and entertaining. I like the unusual perspective on the Viet Nam war and I really liked the direction and filming. Efron is pretty strong, but maybe not tonally consistent. The dramatic aspects are probably more rewarding the comedic, which is maybe why I was the most disappointed in, as I certainly expected it to be funnier. Director: Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinart Their 2nd movie My 1st movie watched from the directorsQuite a spectacle and a movie with high ambitions. The ambitions mostly pay off. At times it feels like there is too much going on... but it makes me want to watch it again, so maybe that's a good thing. The editing and visual effects are hard at work the whole time, the performances are solid, and the writing is clever. I wasn't into the silliness mixed in with the serious philosophical and relationship things happening; but I'm hearing that's intentional and people like it. A very serious tone slowly takes you through an unoriginal investigation. It's a fine production, but nothing too interesting here and one season seems enough for me, even with a solid season finale. It's too bad because I really like Anna Friel. Main Locations: London, England, U.K.
