Scream 4 No More

It brought nothing innovative to the series (except the opening was great) or drama; but it was no doubt entertaining and I think it stuck to the vision of the series and is an improvement on Scream 3. Plus it's better than most slasher films in the last decade

Dead-Ender's Game

The young leads do a fine job in this VFX heavy attempt at an epic adaptation. However Harrison Ford phones it in and several parts seem rushed, as if it was going through the motions, but not as bad as with 'Hunger Games'.
I'm assuming there won't a be a sequel...

Paranormally Activity

I am surprised by how good this nanny camera horror film was compared to the first. I might actually be interested in checking out the third one...

I Want to Eat Cheese with Jeff Garland

Garland is pretty funny in this relatively unique indie film about finding someone to love. Silverman is funny in a toned-down version of herself.

Salinger review

This documentary on the reclusive author makes it clear an hour would have been enough to cover this author. Perhaps if I were a huge fan of his I would have loved this, but it just got to be too much insight, making this not a documentary for the average fan.
Apparently this documentary took several years to make and they clearly worked very hard for the final result... so I've got respect for their perseverance.

Little Fodder for Comedy

What a drastic change from the first two movies. This reminded me of a lazy Adam Sandler movie. It seems like the only actor that actually wanted to be in this movie was Jessica Alba. But it was nice to see Owen Wilson playing a larger role, it's too bad his character was written to become a sillier unrealistic caricature.
Luckily it did still illicit some laughs and it's difficult not to continue to enjoy the relationship between the main two characters, but oh how I wish they actually tried to make a decent end to this trilogy.

Weakenomics

With all these great documentarians and a plethora of source material you would expect this documentary to be awesome... but it's barely above average.

The Biggest Deception of the Summer

An entertaining, albeit barely believable, first half gets almost forgotten as we are forced to believe Mark Ruffalo's acting and the finale's ridiculous twist.
Somehow this became a breakout hit, which I was happy with before I had a chance to see it, as it was up against obnoxious action blockbusters; but in the end it was more deceptive than any other film I had a chance to see in the summer of 2013, because it looked good...

Are You Hearing Yourself? It's not bad.

It's incredible to find such low ratings for a film much more deserving.
My belief on this poor reaction is because it was directed by the genius television director, Matthew Weiner. Which, first, gives people too high of expectations; second, gives him too much freedom. Freedom in the fact that it was structured much like a television show, not a single-packaged movie. People expected something clear, plot driven, and finalized.
This is is none of them.
But this all doesn't mean it isn't good. The symbolism, the characters, the philosophy, the relatable struggles of life... these are all strong elements of this movie. Wilson and Galifianakis are great, while Poehler's talents are underutilized.

A Top Five Chris Rock Film

Chris Rock is funny and the supporting cast is strong enough, although Tracy Morgan needs a larger role.
There wasn't really anything inventive about the film, pretty standard stuff. The areas in which they seemed to want to be different ended up being awkward and over-the-top.
