ESPN Films 30 for 30: Broke review

Posted : 10 years ago on 21 November 2014 11:36 (A review of ESPN Films 30 for 30: Broke)

Unbelievable how many factors go into pro sports athletes' financial demise. And this covers players having issues since the 70s, not just the recent, more obvious pack of players.

The Deep Blue Sea review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 17 November 2014 01:39 (A review of The Deep Blue Sea)

Great use of colors and lighting, solid acting but uneven story and the acting couldn't save the uninteresting characters they were playing.

Scary Movie 3 review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 8 November 2014 05:14 (A review of Scary Movie 3)

I'm not friends with the person who swore this was funny.
It's amazing how low this series has gotten. The first was silly and dumb but still managed to be funny and actually clever in its spoofing. The second one poured on the stupid and the soots were less inventive. The third tries way too hard to be stupid and unoriginal in anything it attempts.
Some of the cameos are what makes this a 3/10 and I may have smiled at a gag once or twice.

Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 7 November 2014 11:09 (A review of Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain)

Decent production and a likable comedian, but I felt like it could have been a lot funnier. His first concert film was deeper and more well-rounded. This one seemed like it was an excuse to make money, not necessarily telling a story like his first one.

Racing Stripes review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 28 October 2014 11:54 (A review of Racing Stripes)

Whether you're black or white or black and white it's for the kids... but only for the kids. It's now a classic example of lazy filmmakers using the talking animal gimmick as a crutch.

Assault on Precinct 13 review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 26 October 2014 07:44 (A review of Assault on Precinct 13)

An assault on anyone's intelligence, if they are over the age of 13. The producers have replaced reality with fiction and once-decent actors with caricatures.

Caligula review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 26 October 2014 01:11 (A review of Caligula)

I had heard plenty of bad things about this movie but with such an impressive cast I refused to believe it was bad... and now I can finally agree.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 23 October 2014 12:17 (A review of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone)

Carell and Carrey in a movie about magicians? Sounds like gold, so consider this a big missed opportunity because there was no gold to be found.

The Butler review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 23 October 2014 12:17 (A review of The Butler)

It amazes me how the least talented actor is the lead in a movie with such a large, otherwise impressive, cast.
I wanted to watch this because of the history aspect and sadly I had to experience another horrific example of Whitaker's inability to emote in a believable way.

Also, this film fails to follow basic film tactics that become distracting in several scenes.

Finally, what is with all the famous actors playing presidents? It takes us out of the scene each time.

Baghead review

A weaker effort from the Duplass brothers but entertaining and the ending makes up for the slow pace of the rest of the movie
